The setup of this soundbar is hassle-free, and the sound quality is unmatched. TCL Alto works seamlessly when it is connected through Bluetooth. It features so many accessories that give the clarity of sound. Most of the negative reviews I noticed are related to speech delay, connection headache, etc but I think these are either due to user error or incompatibility with other TV brands which I'm not sure.

TCL TV brought new features with their software update, which is specifically meant for night time watching without disturbing others and works great with this soundbar. I noticed bose is good for voices, but overall TCL sounds better. Although satellite speakers are nice to have, I don't want to run those wires around the room and we have a baby.

While Vizio sounds sharp like sound is coming from smaller can, TCL sounds wide and like bubbles (I'm pecking for words lol). In comparison to Vizio, imo TCL sounds better. After using few other from bose, LG and Vizio (and even not having a soundbar for a while) I placed the order for Vizio (now the price reduced too).īest thing about TCL was it filled the room with rich sound, very easy and convenient with TCL TV.

I bought TCL Alto 9 around last fall and returned with extended holiday returns because I thought other soundbars could make me happy. I might be late here, but thought of posting my experience. Has anyone out there heard both the Vizio V51-H6 and the TCL Alto 9? At $200, the Vizio is a good system, but I am tempted to go to Best Buy and buy the $249 TCL to try out and I'll return one of the two systems. I've read many reviews that the TCL Alto 9 supposedly sounds good, but has a host of other issues. I'm guessing it sounds a lot better when the rear speakers are in the rear (where they are supposed to be), but again that's a no go in my house. To me, the Vizio systems sounds ok, but does not have much of a soundstage at all no matter what the setting. There's also the "surround dual", which makes the rear speakers and additional left and right speaker (when placed in the front).

The manual says if you use the rear speakers in the front to use the "Surround Front" setting. I have the (rear) surround speakers up front and been experimenting with the various settings. I also am unable to use the rear speakers on the Vizio system in the rear due to the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). I ended up getting the Vizio V51-H6 at Costco last week for $199. I had the same dilemna - Vizio or TCL Alto 9.

Anyone with experience with one or ideally both of these, I'd love to hear your experience. I generally research things to a fault, but there is only so much that can tell me in charts that don't mean anything to my ears.Īny additional questions or thoughts are welcome. This is mostly to appease my wife's aesthetic preferences. When I want to sit down and watch an actual movie, I'll go through the process of plugging in the rear speakers. I realize that one is 3.1 and the other is 5.1.2 and this is an important point (possibly the most important point), if I went the Vizio route (5.1.2) I will end up running it without the rear speakers in use 90% of the time - thus making it more like a 3.1 setup. I don't know from experience if one way is inherently better than the other. Although both have Dolby Atmos support, they approach it in different ways. I am looking for a roughly $300 soundbar solution to add to my setup.
